Welcome to the Lion Den

Our Goals
  • To strengthen Scouting’s position in the community

  • To reflect the diversity of our communities

  • To offer greater support for children and their families

  • To introduce children and their families to the fun of the outdoors

  • To provide extended learning opportunities outside of school

Earning the Lion Rank

A boy or girl who is 6 years old or is in Kindergarten is a Lion, and his adventures are found in the Lion Handbook. A 6 year old boy or girl in Kindergarten joins Cub Scouting with his parent or adult guardian. This is unique relative to other ranks in Cub Scouting. Lions and their adult partners are just that, partners. They attend meetings together, go on adventures like field trips together, and complete requirements together.

A Lion does not need to earn his Bobcat rank (the scout will do this as a Tiger). There are requirements for the Lion rank.

Lion Requirements to Advance

Complete each of the following Lion required adventures with your den or family:

a. Animal Kingdom

b. Fun on the Run

c. King of the Jungle

d. Lion's Honor

Lion elective adventures are optional but encouraged.

With your parent or adult partner, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide, and earn the Cyber Chip award for your age.
