Welcome to the Arrow of Light Den
Our Goals
Arrow of Light is a program for 5th grade boys and girls to prepare to join a Scout BSA troop while learning outdoor skills and participating in different activity badges. A well-run group of Arrows of Light is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'scout-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop.
Earning the Arrow of Light
A boy or girl who is in the fourth or fifth grade is a Arrow of Light Scout, and their adventures are found in the Arrow of Light Handbook.
Once a boy or girl has completed his Webelos rank requirements or a new boy or girl joins Cub Scouting in the fifth grade, they may work on Arrow of Light requirements. Like all other new Cub Scouts, a Arrow of Life Scout must first earn his Bobcat rank. After completing the requirements for Bobcat, they may go on to complete the requirements for the Arrow of Light rank and the many electives that are offered for his rank.
All Cub Scouts, except for those who join Cub Scouting for the first time in fifth grade, must earn their Webelos rank prior to earning Arrow of Light. The requirements for Webelos and Arrow of Light may be worked on at the same time but the tenure requirements for each must be met and the awards must be earned and presented sequentially.
Arrow of Light Requirements
Be active in your Webelos den for at least six months since completing the fourth grade or for at least six months since becoming 10 years old. (Being active means having good attendance, paying your den dues, and working on den projects.)
Complete each of the following Arrow of Light required adventures with your den or family:
a. Bobcat
b. Outdoor Adventurer
c. Personal Fitness
d. Citizenship
e. First Aid
f. Duty to God
Complete two Arrow of Light elective adventures of your den or family’s choosing.
Webelos Uniform
Required: Shirt (Long or Short Sleeve), Neckerchief, Slide, Belt
Optional: Pants or Shorts, Socks, Hat
Each year: New Neckerchief, Same Slide for Wolf and Bear Dens.
Uniform Code: Your son or daughter should/will be encouraged to wear his uniform appropriately. The shirt should always be tucked in and orderly. The scout should understand the importance of representing the entire Boy Scout Organization while in uniform.
Patches you will need: Scout Emblem (above left pocket), Council Patch, Pack Numbers (260), Den Number
Patches that will be provided: Any Rank Advancement Badge or Patch that your son or daughter earns will be awarded (at no cost) during the Monthly Pack Meetings. .
